Egypt Threatens Hoarders of Goods with Military Trials

Khaberni - In a proactive government move to face the repercussions of military escalation in the region, the Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly reassured his citizens today, Sunday, confirming that the state has secure stockpiles of strategic and essential goods that can last for several months. He also threatened those tampering with prices and hoarding goods with military trials.

Madbouly announced decisive presidential directives to tackle any attempts to monopolize goods or manipulate prices under the current circumstances and the ongoing war.

He also confirmed, during his presidency of the meeting of the Governors' Council at the government headquarters in the new administrative capital, the availability of all basic needs and industrial requirements, noting that proactive efforts by the state, in cooperation with the banking sector, succeeded in securing the energy and industrial sectors for the upcoming months.

Referral to "Military Justice"
The Prime Minister also directed to intensify surveillance campaigns on the field and not to allow any monopolistic practices, protecting citizens and addressing any deliberate hiding of goods with utmost force and decisiveness.

He revealed directives from President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to study the possibility of referring those manipulating prices and hoarding goods to "Military Justice". This message was conveyed by Sisi during the military academy's iftar event, stressing that the state will not allow the difficult regional circumstances to be exploited for profiting at the expense of the citizens' livelihood.

The government also called on citizens to participate in community engagement by immediately reporting any price manipulations through the "unified governmental complaint system", ensuring that all complaints will be given the highest priority for field inspection and taking deterrent legal actions.

Meanwhile, Madbouly emphasized the need to continue measures to rationalize the consumption of electricity in streets and government buildings, away from homes and factories.

He directed the governors to personally follow up to prevent any encroachments on agricultural lands, especially during the Eid al-Fitr holiday period, and to address them "in the cradle".
