Khaberni - In accordance with the vision of Arab Amman University to empower its students academically and professionally and to enhance their role in serving public health issues, students Layan Al-Salamat, and Raneen Jabayti from the Faculty of Pharmacy at the university participated in a training workshop titled: "Empowering students and graduates with awareness skills regarding the dangers of smoking and the importance of following healthy lifestyle patterns", held at Jordan University of Science and Technology, organized by the Cancer Control Office at Al-Hussein Cancer Center, in cooperation with the Jordanian Universities Association for Tobacco and Smoking Control.

The workshop aimed to empower students and graduates with comprehensive scientific knowledge about the reality of tobacco use locally and globally, and to provide them with the necessary awareness skills to analyze the factors influencing its spread among youth and adolescents. It covered integrated topics including addiction to tobacco, its health damages, the impact of electronic nicotine systems, in addition to psychological and social dimensions linked to this phenomenon. The workshop included practical exercises and case studies that enhanced the participants’ abilities to diagnose health problems related to smoking and hone their communication skills to effectively spread impactful awareness messages, thus contributing to preparing young skilled individuals to play an effective role as influencers in promoting public health within and outside the university community.

It should be noted that the participation of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Arab Amman University was a confirmation of the university's commitment to supporting national efforts aimed at reducing the prevalence of smoking and promoting a culture of adopting healthy lifestyles, especially among the youth, based on its academic and awareness role and its social responsibility. This participation culminated in the participating students receiving training certificates qualifying them to engage as health ambassadors in awareness initiatives supporting smoking cessation, which contributes to spreading health awareness and establishing positive sustainable behaviors within and outside the university community, and reflects the university's ongoing commitment to protecting community health and enhancing the quality of life.
