Khaberni - Three Indonesian sailors went missing after the sinking of a tugboat flying the flag of the UAE on Friday in the Strait of Hormuz, according to the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The ministry stated in a statement that "an Indonesian survivor is currently being treated for burns in the city of Khasab in the Sultanate of Oman, and local authorities are still searching for the other three Indonesians."
The vessel witnessed an explosion before it sank, causing a fire, according to the ministry's statement, which indicated that an investigation has been opened.
The Strait of Hormuz, located at the exit of the Gulf, is a strategic passageway for global oil trade, with 20% of the world's oil and liquefied natural gas carriers passing through it.
Since Saturday, February 28, Israel and the United States have been conducting airstrikes on Iran, which led to the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Since then, Tehran has retaliated by attacking Israel and countries in the region with missiles and drones.
Iran implemented a naval blockade on the passage of ships in the Strait of Hormuz and targeted oil tankers attempting to cross it.
On the first Sunday of March, Hezbollah launched several rockets from Lebanon targeting northern Israel, in response to the assassination of Khamenei. This has drawn Lebanon into an open war with Israel, where the latter carried out devastating airstrikes on southern Lebanon and the southern suburbs of Beirut.
