Khaberni - Media reports confirm that new financial details have been revealed regarding the amount of returns Lionel Messi receives from Inter Miami, in one of the most attention-grabbing deals in the history of American soccer.
The French newspaper le10sport reported that the total annual compensation for the Argentine star could reach between 70 and 80 million dollars, taking into account all the perks associated with his contract.
Inter Miami owner Jorge Mas explained that the financial package Messi receives is not limited to his direct salary only, but also includes significant additional benefits, notably an ownership stake in the club, which raises his total annual income to between 70 and 80 million dollars.
According to data released by the American Soccer Players' Association, Lionel Messi earns a basic salary of about 12 million dollars annually, but the guaranteed compensation value, which is calculated by adding various bonuses distributed over the duration of the contract, reaches 20.45 million dollars annually.
The newspaper noted that these figures reflect the nature of the exceptional agreement that brought the world champion to Inter Miami. The deal aimed not only to sign a significant player on the field but also to benefit from the enormous marketing and media impact that the Argentine star has globally.
It added: "Since joining the team, Messi has contributed to a significant transformation in the league's popularity both inside the United States and internationally, with a substantial increase in fan engagement, as well as a noticeable rise in ticket sales and official merchandise."
It further stated: "Observers believe that including an ownership stake in Messi's contract is one of the most distinct aspects of the deal, as it grants the player a future benefit from the club’s economic growth, a rare contractual model in modern football that reflects the significant commercial value of the Argentine star."
