Khaberni - The US Embassy in Amman called on its citizens in Jordan to be cautious and follow the instructions issued by the local authorities, amid security developments in the region.
The Embassy in a security alert stated that the US government is working to provide options to assist American citizens in leaving the Middle East, noting that commercial flights continue through Queen Alia International Airport and the possibility of departure through available land and sea crossings.
The Embassy also advised American citizens to prepare to stay in safe places inside their homes or in secure buildings if departure is not possible, providing a stock of food, water, medications, and basic necessities.
It urged them to avoid gatherings and protests, follow the media for official guidance, stay in touch with their families, as well as register in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive security updates.
The Embassy indicated a suspension of routine consular services, while continuing to offer emergency assistance to American citizens in Jordan.
