Khaberni - Amid conflicting statements from Iran regarding the continuation of strikes on its neighbors, Gulf states announced their interception of new missile and drone attacks today, Sunday, including Kuwait, which reported targeting fuel tanks at its international airport.
Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and the UAE announced the interception of new attacks, despite an apology from Iranian President Masoud Bazshkyan yesterday, Saturday, to the Gulf states for the strikes targeting them.
Meanwhile, the Kuwaiti military, which intercepted a new attack with missiles and drones this morning, warned that the sounds of explosions were due to interception operations.
Death of two officers
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior announced the death of two officers from the General Administration of Land Border Security while performing their national duty.
The Kuwaiti authorities also explained that fire teams are still fighting fires at fuel tanks at Kuwait International Airport, as well as a towering government building in Kuwait City, according to the Kuwaiti official news agency (KUNA). The Ministry of Defense stated that the fuel tanks at the airport were directly attacked by a drone.
The authorities also stated that the headquarters of the Public Institution for Social Security in the capital was also attacked by a drone.
The UAE announced that its air defense systems had intercepted a missile threat.
While sirens sounded in Bahrain, an attack also caused "a fire and material damage to a house and several neighboring buildings" in Manama, according to the Ministry of Interior.
Yesterday, Bahraini authorities confirmed that "air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 92 missiles and 151 drones since the beginning of the brutal Iranian aggression."
The Saudi Ministry of Defense reported that a ballistic missile attempted to target Prince Sultan Air Base, which houses US forces, but fell "in an uninhabited area."
Thwarting an attack in Riyadh
The Saudi Defense also clarified that it destroyed three ballistic missiles headed towards this base, in addition to 17 drones that attempted to target the Shaybah oil field in the southeast of the Kingdom.
Early on this Sunday morning, the ministry announced that it had thwarted a drone attack targeting the diplomatic quarter in Riyadh, without any damage.
Since the beginning of the conflict on February 28, Iran targeted civilian infrastructure in several Gulf countries, claiming that it was targeting only American interests and bases.
Yesterday, Saturday, the Iranian president apologized for the attacks that affected those countries, triggering a wave of criticism against him domestically, especially from the Revolutionary Guards and hardline leaders. This led him to later assert that his country "will strongly respond to American and Israeli attacks and will not surrender."
This comes as the war is expected to continue for several more weeks, as previously announced by U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli officials.
