Iran announces capture of American soldiers and Washington denies

Khaberni - The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Iranian National Security, Ali Larijani, announced on Saturday evening that a number of American soldiers "were captured", and the US Central Command denied the accuracy of this news.

Larijani said on his account on the X platform "A number of American soldiers were captured", adding that the Americans are promoting misleading narratives about their losses.

He continued, "They are promoting a misleading narrative that claims that five or six American soldiers were killed, and then over time they gradually increase the number of dead under various pretexts, such as incidental accidents or fabricated events".

In contrast, a spokesman for Central Command told Al Jazeera, "The Iranian regime's claims of capturing American soldiers are another example of its lies and deception".

Earlier, the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Iranian National Security said that US President Donald Trump failed to achieve all the goals he wanted from the war, including dividing Iran.

Larijani added, in an interview broadcast by Iranian TV, that the United States thought it could end the war in a short period as it did in Venezuela but failed.

He continued that the United States wanted to spread chaos in the country by assassinating Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and some officials but also failed to do so, vowing to punish Trump for the assassination of the leader.
