Khaberni - A source in the Turkish Ministry of Defense reported on Saturday that Turkey is considering sending F-16 fighters to Northern Cyprus "to ensure security" of this part of the island, which is only recognized by Ankara.
The source added, "In light of recent developments, phased plans are being prepared to ensure the security of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The deployment of F-16s on the island is among the options being considered."
Since Saturday, February 28, Israel and the United States have been conducting air strikes on Iran, which resulted in the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Since then, Tehran has been retaliating by striking Israel and countries in the region with missiles and drones.
Iran enforced a maritime blockade on the transit of ships through the Strait of Hormuz and targeted oil tankers attempting to pass through it.
On the first Sunday of March, Hezbollah fired several missiles from Lebanon targeting northern Israel, in response to the assassination of Khamenei, drawing Lebanon into an open war with Israel, where the latter has carried out devastating raids on southern Lebanon and the southern suburbs of Beirut.
