Research Support Agreement between Amman AlAhliyya and the Research Support Fund for the Production of Enhanced Milk with Benef

Khaberni - Amman Al-Ahliyya University signed a financial support agreement for a research project with the Scientific Research and Industrial Development Support Fund affiliated with the Higher Council for Science and Technology, in partnership with Petra University and Al-Maha Dairy Company in Jordan.
Under the agreement, Amman University participates as a major academic and research partner in implementing a project aimed at developing and producing milk enhanced with beneficial bacteria (probiotics) using innovative microcapsule technology, which contributes to enhancing the health value of national food products.
The research team is led by Professor Dr. Ghalib Ereqat and Dr. Mohammad Malkawi from the University, who oversee the scientific and practical aspects of the project within the framework of partnership with the participating academic and industrial entities.
The implementation of this project is supported and guided by the University President Professor Dr. Sari Hamdan, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the University and Chairman of Maha Dairy Company Board, Dr. Maher Hourani, as part of enhancing integration between the academic sector and the industrial sector, and establishing a model of a strategic partnership aimed at turning scientific research outcomes into industrial products with added value.
The University administration confirmed that this project embodies its strategic orientation towards supporting applied scientific research and enhancing effective partnerships, which contributes to transforming laboratory research outcomes into marketable products with a direct impact on community health and the national economy.
The technology used in the project involves encapsulating beneficial bacteria within tiny microcapsules that ensure their protection during manufacturing and storage processes, maintaining their vitality and effectiveness until the product reaches the consumer, and ensuring the delivery of a high-quality functional food product.
This project is in line with the vision of the Scientific Research and Industrial Development Support Fund aimed at aligning knowledge production in universities with the needs of the Jordanian industrial sector, and enhancing the innovation system to serve the goals of sustainable development in the Kingdom.
