Khaberni - The US Embassy in Amman issued on Saturday a security alert, urging American citizens in Jordan to exercise caution and follow the instructions issued by the local authorities, in light of the security developments in the region.
The Embassy affirmed in its statement that the safety of American citizens is a top priority for the US Administration and the State Department, noting that it is working to provide additional options to assist Americans wishing to leave the Middle East.
The Embassy urged American nationals to consider leaving the region via the currently available commercial flights from Queen Alia International Airport, or through the available land crossings, depending on the security conditions and crossing procedures.
It also warned of the possibility of attacks targeting civilian sites in the Middle East, urging American citizens to prepare to stay in safe places inside their homes or in secure buildings, with essential supplies of food, water, and medicine.
The Embassy indicated that its operations in Amman are continuing normally, urging American citizens to follow security updates and to register in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive alerts and information related to safety.
