Khaberni - Donald Trump stirred much interaction on social media when he spoke about Cristiano Ronaldo in front of his rival Lionel Messi, listing the virtues of the Portuguese star he had met in last November.
Messi met the President of the United States for the first time after being unable to attend an invitation sent by former President Joe Biden last June.
When giving his speech amid the Inter Miami players led by captain Lionel Messi, Trump addressed the mention of Ronaldo and said to Messi and his teammates: "This man is Lionel Messi; he came to the American league and won while many other great players come here, play well but do not win the titles. Yet, Lionel came and won."
He added: "Messi has won 47 championships and is the top-scoring player in football history with 29 goals and won the league's best player award twice in a row for the first time in the championship's history."
The American president talked about Ronaldo and said addressing Messi: "My son is a big fan of both you and Cristiano Ronaldo," which brought a slight smile from the Argentine star as soon as Trump mentioned the name of the Saudi Al-Nassr captain.
Lionel Messi (38 years old) joined Inter Miami in July 2023 and later led the team to win the American League Cup in December 2025 after having guided them to participate in the extended version of the Club World Cup 2026, held last June in the United States.
