Khaberni - The spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate stated that yesterday, an elderly woman born in 1951 (having a medical history) was found deceased inside her home in the east of the capital, where she was transferred to forensic medicine and investigations into the incident were initiated.
The spokesperson confirmed that today a post-mortem report from the National Center for Forensic Medicine indicated that there was a criminal suspicion in her death and attributed the cause of death to suffocation due to smothering.
The spokesperson added that as soon as the report was received, an investigative team from the Criminal Investigation Department and the Capital Region was formed. The team collected information and evidence from the crime scene and narrowed the suspects to one individual (the victim's grandson), who was arrested and upon interrogation admitted to strangling the victim with the intent of theft and will be referred to judiciary.
