Trump fires Secretary of Homeland Security over ad campaign

Khaberni - President Donald Trump announced on Thursday the dismissal of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, one of the architects of the policy to deport undocumented migrants.

Trump stated in a post on his social platform Truth Social that the secretary he appointed as a “special envoy” to Latin America will be succeeded on March 31 by Republican Senator Markwayne Mullin.

According to media reports, Trump made his decision after hearing sessions in Congress where Kristi Noem struggled to answer questions related to awarding a major public contract.

The criticisms focused on an advertising campaign worth 200 million dollars to encourage "voluntary departure," a campaign that Noem said Trump had approved, which White House officials denied to American media sources.

Pressures and Criticisms

According to "NBC News," Noem, who was tasked with fulfilling Trump's promises to deport migrants, faced sharp criticism from both the Democratic and Republican parties, particularly after the use of federal forces in Minneapolis and her controversial statements about the killing of American citizens by federal agents.

She also faced internal criticism over plans to purchase a jet worth 70 million dollars, amidst reports of strained relations with Coast Guard leaderships.
