Khaberni - The Israeli Chief of Staff, Eyal Zamir, announced on Thursday that more than 60% of the Iranian ballistic missile launch platforms and 80% of the Iranian air defense systems have been destroyed in the ongoing American-Israeli attack on Iran.
Zamir stated in a televised statement: “We have neutralized and destroyed more than 60% of the ballistic missile launch platforms”.
He added that Israel also destroyed 80% of Iranian air defense systems and “achieved almost full air superiority over Iranian skies”.
Israel and the United States have been conducting airstrikes on Iran since Saturday, leading to the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Since then, Tehran has responded by striking Israel and countries in the region with missiles and drones.
Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of the former Supreme Leader, is among the prominent candidates to succeed him, given that he is one of the most influential figures in Iran, as well as Hassan Khomeini being proposed as a potential successor to the position. However, U.S. President Donald Trump says he wants to participate in selecting the next Iranian leader.
Following the death of the Supreme Leader, a transitional leadership council has taken over the administration of the country until the Assembly of Experts elects a permanent leader.
Iran targeted oil tankers and containers attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz.
On Sunday, Hezbollah fired several missiles from Lebanon targeting northern Israel, in response to the assassination of Khamenei, drawing Lebanon into an open war with Israel, where destructive raids were carried out on southern Lebanon and the southern suburbs of Beirut.
