Araghchi Confirms Irans Readiness to Confront a Ground Attack Threatening Perpetrators with a Disaster

Khaberni - Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, confirmed on Thursday Iran's readiness to confront a ground attack, threatening its perpetrators with a "disaster".

Araghchi said to NBC News that Iran does not seek a ceasefire nor negotiations with the United States.

He pointed out that Iran does not intend to close the Strait of Hormuz at this stage.

Since Saturday, Israel and the United States have been launching air strikes on Iran, which resulted in the death of the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, and since then, Tehran has been retaliating by striking Israel and countries in the region with missiles and drones.

Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of the former Supreme Leader, is among the prominent candidates for his succession, noting that he is one of the most influential figures in Iran, and Hassan Khomeini's name is also proposed as a potential successor for the position, but US President Donald Trump says he wants to be involved in choosing the next Iranian leader.

After the death of the Supreme Leader, a transitional leadership council took over the administration of the country until the Assembly of Experts elects a permanent leader.

Iran targeted oil tankers and containers attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz.

On Sunday, Hezbollah fired several missiles from Lebanon targeting northern Israel; in response to the assassination of Khamenei, dragging Lebanon into an open war with Israel, where devastating raids were carried out on southern Lebanon and the southern suburbs of Beirut.
