Iranian Rigged Boat Strikes Oil Tanker at Iraqi Port

Khaberni  - A source in the Iraqi ports reported today that an oil tanker flying the Bahamian flag was hit by a "boat" while at Khor al-Zubair port in Basra province, resulting in material damage and an oil spill in the area of the incident.

An Iraqi source said that the explosion on the oil tanker was caused by an Iranian rigged boat.

Iraqi sources indicated that the tanker's crew notified the port authorities of a malfunction in the left Ballast Tank, which began losing water, confirming the existence of a breach or a hole in the vessel's structure due to the impact.

The source further explained that despite the breach that affected the structure and the limited oil leak following the incident, the tanker remains in a stable condition and is floating safely. He noted that the concerned technical teams are monitoring the situation to assess the extent of the damage and take necessary measures to prevent the leak from worsening.
