Minister of Transport We are prepared for any emergency that may affect maritime transport

Khaberni - Minister of Transport Nidal Al-Qatamin met on Thursday at the headquarters of the Jordan Maritime Union, with the head and members of the union’s board, in the presence of the Ministry of Transport’s Secretary-General Fares Abu Diya.

During the meeting, the Minister listened to an explanation of the current state of maritime services and the challenges facing navigation companies amid the existing regional tensions, and their implications on shipping movements and supply chains in the region.

Al-Qatamin emphasized the importance of maintaining efficiency and continuity of supply chains under various circumstances, stressing the need to intensify efforts to ensure the smooth flow of trade and logistic services, and highlighting the vital role the Maritime Union and shipping companies play in supporting this direction and dealing with regional changes.

He pointed out the constant necessity of being prepared to face any emergency that may affect maritime transport, and to work on preparing alternative plans that ensure the continuous flow of goods and merchandise without interruption. He also highlighted the strategic importance of the Aqaba port as the main maritime gateway for Jordan and a central hub for trade and supplies.

He affirmed the importance of enhancing coordination and integration between the public and private sectors to face current challenges. An agreement was reached to form a working group that includes the Ministry of Transport, the Jordan Maritime Union, and the relevant entities, to monitor developments and devise appropriate solutions to support the maritime transport sector in the Kingdom and ensure the sustainability and efficiency of supply chains.
