Khaberni - The British Maritime Trade Operations reported today, Thursday, that a notification was received about a major explosion that occurred near a stationary tanker off the coast of Kuwait, resulting in water flooding into the vessel and causing an oil leak, with no injuries reported among the crew.
According to the European channel "Euronews", the organization said that the tanker reported a "big explosion on its left side", which led to water beginning to flood into it, noting that the incident occurred 56 kilometers southeast of the Mubarak Al-Kabeer port in Kuwait.
The organization clarified in a notice that "there is oil in the water leaking from one of the cargo tanks, which could leave an environmental impact, noting that the water has leaked into the ship, and there are no reports of fires, and the crew is safe".
For its part, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior stated in a subsequent statement that the incident occurred outside the territorial waters of Kuwait, and at a distance of not less than 60 kilometers from the Mubarak Al-Kabeer port.
