Netanyahu asks Washington for an explanation about secret communications with Iran

Khaberni - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu requested clarifications from the White House earlier this week, after learning that Trump administration officials had been in contact with the Iranian regime, according to two sources familiar with the situation.

Netanyahu's outreach reflects the Israeli government's concern about a scenario in which the United States might seek a ceasefire before Israel achieves all its military objectives, according to the American news site "Axios".

The sources reported that earlier in the week, Israeli intelligence acquired information that raised doubts about the existence of some type of communications between Iran and the Trump administration, to discuss a ceasefire.

On Monday, Netanyahu contacted White House officials to inquire whether such talks or message exchanges had actually occurred.

One source said, "The White House told Bibi (the Israeli Prime Minister) that the Trump administration had not spoken with the Iranians."

An American official said that Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump's adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner are in daily contact with Netanyahu, Mossad Director David Barnea, and other Israeli officials, and that coordination over the past month has been very close.

The American official added, "They know we are not talking with the Iranians."

An American official and another informed source said that the Iranians sent messages to the Trump administration in recent days, but the United States did not respond.

The American official told the "Axios" site about the correspondence: "We considered these messages to be just nonsense" from the Iranian side.

The "New York Times" reported on Wednesday that agents from the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence had indirectly contacted the Central Intelligence Agency to discuss terms for ending the conflict.

An American official in a press briefing yesterday, Tuesday, said: "Steve Witkoff or Jared Kushner did not have any conversation with Ali Larijani or Abbas Araghchi or anyone else in the Iranian regime since the beginning of the war."

Trump also ruled out any talks with the Iranian regime in his comments on Tuesday, where he wrote on the "Truth Social" platform: "Their air defense, air forces, navy, and leadership are finished. They want to talk. I said: too late."!
