The government pays overdue amounts due to pharmaceutical company warehouses at the Ministry of Health

Khaberni - The Cabinet decided in its session held on Wednesday, chaired by Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, to approve the provision of support for the electrical connection to an industrial complex in the Qatraneh area in the Karak governorate, provided that 2000 Jordanian employees are hired over 3 years.

According to the decision, the National Electricity Company will establish a new electrical transformation station in the Qatraneh area, at a total cost estimated at 6.5 million dinars, with the amount to be paid in installments by the Jingsheng International Ceramics Company over 15 years, provided that the company commits to hiring 2000 full-time Jordanian employees over the next three years.

The decision comes as part of the government's efforts to attract investments and expand in the governorates. The Prime Minister announced during the Cabinet session held in the Karak governorate three weeks ago that it had been agreed to provide additional government support for the expansion of an industrial complex in the Qatraneh area that provides around 2000 job opportunities for those wishing to work from among the Jordanians at this complex, especially the members of the local community, confirming that the Ministry of Labor will provide necessary training and suitable working conditions for that.

As part of the government's policy in settling outstanding arrears accumulated over the years, the Cabinet decided to approve the payment of outstanding dues for the year 2024, in favor of the pharmaceutical companies' warehouses incurred by the Ministry of Health, valued at 70 million dinars; thus bringing the total amount paid by the government during the past weeks to about 357 million dinars.

The Cabinet had decided in the past weeks to approve the payment of outstanding arrears accumulated over years, valued at 42 million dinars in favor of the printers tasked with printing textbooks and curricula, and 60 million dinars in favor of the electricity distribution companies due by ministries and government and official institutions, in addition to 10 million dinars due by the Water Authority, and 25 million dinars due by the Yarmouk Water Company, for the benefit of the electricity distribution companies.

The package of decisions regarding arrears payments also included the settlement of 100 million dinars to public universities, payment of the debt of King Abdullah University Hospital valued at 40 million dinars, and the debt of the Jordan University Hospital at 10 million dinars.

The final financial results for the year 2025, which were published by the Ministry of Finance at the beginning of this week, indicated that the government had paid 620 million dinars of outstanding arrears accumulated over previous years during the years 2024 - 2025, and it is expected that the total paid arrears will reach 920 million dinars by the end of 2026.
