The government approves a system to enhance traffic safety and provide incentives for drivers

Khaberni - The Cabinet approved in its session held on Wednesday, chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan, a system for enhancing traffic safety and providing incentives for drivers for the year 2026, after making amendments to it during its discussion at the Legislation and Opinion Bureau following the approval of its justifying reasons the week before last.

The system grants drivers continuous incentives and discounts in case they do not commit any violations, or if they pay the fines early, aiming to encourage compliance with traffic laws which contributes to improving safety levels on the roads and reducing accidents.

Under the system, a driver who goes a full year without any violation from the date of his vehicle’s registration will be granted a 25% discount on the fees, levies, and costs associated with renewing the vehicle’s registration, as stipulated in the system of driving license fees and vehicle registration and licensing.

Furthermore, anyone who commits a traffic violation will be granted a 30% discount on the fine if it is paid within 60 days from the date of the violation.

The system presents an opportunity for drivers to facilitate the completion of their vehicle’s licensing.

The system project excludes severe violations from the discount due to their danger, such as: reckless driving, running a red light, causing traffic accidents, fleeing the scene of an accident, tampering with vehicle plates, and violations resulting in the death of a person or causing a permanent disability to them.
