Jafar Hassan The security and safety of Jordan above all else

Prime Minister Jafar Hassan emphasized on Wednesday the security and safety of Jordan and its people above all else, pointing out that national interest is the basis for handling all new developments.

At the beginning of a legislative session in the House of Representatives, he added that Jordan will not be a battleground for any party; nothing in the world takes precedence over our national interests and the security of our citizens.

He stressed that Jordanian attacks on Jordanian territory and other Arab countries are completely condemned and rejected and constitute a serious escalation.

Hassan stated that the sovereignty of Jordan and the protection of its airspace and borders, and maintaining its security and stability, are constant and untouchable, and national interest is fundamental in dealing with all regional circumstances and all parties.

He added, "Our valiant armed forces, the Royal Air Force, and our security agencies are capable of maintaining Jordan's security and stability, and protecting Jordanians."

He emphasized that Iranian missile and drone attacks on Jordan and on other Arab brotherly nations are absolutely rejected and condemned, and constitute a serious escalation that targets the expansion of war and pushing the region into a deeper conflict, during a time when we have made and are making maximum efforts to end this war, which we tried to avoid, and to protect all the people of the region from its consequences, and to achieve a radical solution that prevents its recurrence.

Hassan stressed that regional crises and conflicts are not new to Jordan, and will not deter us from doing what is necessary and obligatory towards our country and citizens by all means, and we shall proceed with all determination in implementing our programs, projects, and national plans without hesitation... with all our energies and capabilities, as always directed by His Majesty the King.

"Yesterday, Tuesday, I was in villages in Irbid and Ajloun, and I saw students in their classes, teachers in their schools, and industrialists and workers in their factories.. I saw in them a strong desire and true determination to learn, build, develop and give.. And this determination is what we use to maintain this country's immunity against challenges and difficulties," according to the President.

He confirmed that "despite everything happening around us, and despite our awareness of the severity of the situation for the entire region, life must continue as usual in Jordan, with every effort made to maintain public safety, while civil and military state agencies conduct a continuous assessment of the risk level and how to deal with it in various sectors, and take the necessary precautionary measures for the safety of citizens under these conditions."

He noted that the kingdom's stock of basic, provisioning, and raw materials is safe and sufficient for several months, despite Iran's failed attempt to damage our wheat stock at some of our silos through an electronic breach that targeted the system managing the temperature of these silos, which was handled with high efficiency and without any damage.

Hassan pointed out that the kingdom's stock of various types of petroleum derivatives and domestic gas is available in sufficient and secure quantities for the coming period.

He explained that supply chains are functioning regularly, and the most suitable alternatives are being identified as needed, and the local market is being supplied with the necessary quantities in a normal manner, according to clear plans and continuous monitoring to ensure market stability and protect citizens' interests.

Hassan further mentioned that the kingdom’s power generation system is based on a thoughtful diversity in supply sources and operation options; we receive liquefied natural gas through the floating gas ship in Aqaba, in addition to the readiness of generating stations to operate on alternative fuel when needed, and this flexibility has enabled us to maintain the stability of the electric current in various regions of the kingdom without interruption, and we will continue to do so, God willing, and we have high readiness for urgent repairs of the power network should any damage occur - God forbid.

He added, "We face clear challenges in terms of rising electricity production costs; due to the disruption of a main source of gas during this current phase, which we hope will not last long, in addition to the rapidly escalating global prices of oil and gas, resulting from the Iranian regime targeting the brotherly Arab Gulf states, deepening the crisis, but we are today in a much better position than we were under tougher circumstances in the past, due to the diversity of alternatives that we have implemented projects for during the past ten years. And our work continues to complete new strategic projects."
