Khaberni - The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced on Wednesday the full control over the Strait of Hormuz, which holds vital importance to the global oil trade at the entrance of the Gulf.
The Fars News Agency reported that a prominent naval official in the Revolutionary Guard, Mohammad Akbar Zadeh said that "the Strait of Hormuz is now under full control of the naval forces of the Guard."
U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that the U.S. Navy is capable of escorting oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz "if necessary."
Since Saturday, Israel and the United States have been carrying out airstrikes on Iran, killing the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, and since then, Tehran has been retaliating against Israel and countries in the region with missiles and drones.
Iran has implemented a naval blockade on the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, targeting oil tankers that tried to cross it.
On Sunday, Hezbollah launched several rockets from Lebanon targeting northern Israel, in response to the assassination of Khamenei, drawing Lebanon into open war with Israel, where devastating raids were carried out on southern Lebanon and the southern suburbs of Beirut.
