Khaberni - The Qatari Ministry of Defense announced on Monday that the Emiri Air Force had shot down two fighter jets coming from Iran, in addition to several missiles and drones launched by Tehran in response to the American-Israeli attack on it.
The ministry confirmed in a statement "the successful interception by the Emiri Air Force of two SU24 jets coming from Iran," along with "successfully countering" seven ballistic missiles and five drones that targeted "several areas in the country today."
The Ministry of Defense's statement did not address the fate of the pilots of the Sukhoi-type aircraft.
This is the first time a Gulf state has declared shooting down Iranian fighter jets, three days into the Iranian attacks that came in response to a war launched by the United States and Israel on it early Saturday.
Earlier on Monday, Qatar had announced the suspension of liquefied natural gas production, following new Iranian attacks on energy facilities in the Arabian Gulf states.
