Khaberni - Egyptian artist Hani Shaker suffered an emergency health crisis that necessitated his urgent transfer to the hospital after he experienced sudden bleeding in the colon, where he underwent major surgery under the supervision of a specialized medical team, and then was transferred to the intensive care unit to monitor his health condition.
Shaker had felt sharp and sudden pains, and medical examinations revealed bleeding in the colon, prompting the medical team to make an urgent decision for surgical intervention, during which part of the colon was removed along with changing the course of the intestines.
Local reports indicated that the former head of the musicians' union is still under meticulous medical observation following the surgery, as he has not yet regained consciousness after exiting the operating room, having entered a coma, which increased concerns about his health developments in recent hours.
The health condition of the artist, dubbed "The Prince of Arab Singing," elicits widespread sympathy and concern among his followers and colleagues in the artistic community, who ensured to pray for his swift recovery.
The official page for the members of the musicians' union in Egypt announced that Hani Shaker's health condition is "critical," asking his fans and well-wishers to pray for his full recovery, that Allah grants him safety and returns him to his family and fans in good health, and reassures his family and fans as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, artist Nadia Mustafa, a board member of the musicians' union, through her Facebook account, requested prayers for his health crisis, writing: "My brother, whom my mother did not bear, and my friend, I ask Allah to grace you with a speedy recovery, may God keep you for your precious wife and noble family and your audience across the Arab homeland, bless your life and grant you continual health."
The new health crisis faced by the artist, who is 73 years old, comes just weeks after he suffered another health issue, during which he underwent spinal surgery in January, following a herniated disc that rendered him unable to move.
At that time, doctors recommended avoiding any physical effort until his full recovery, before he made his first artistic appearance after the surgery through a concert held in the Emirates, during which he appeared seated in a chair throughout the performance due to his health condition.
Hani Shaker is one of the most prominent Arab voices associated with authentic singing, having started his artistic career as a child in the mid-1960s, portraying the character of composer Sayed Darwish in his childhood in the movie "Sayed Darwish."
Throughout his career, he starred in a number of cinematic films in the seventies and eighties, in addition to his singing career through which he released nearly 29 albums. He also held the position of the head of the musicians' union for two consecutive terms during the period from 2015 to 2021, before he resigned from the position.
