Khaberni - An Egyptian in Kuwait sparked a wave of controversy on social media after he called for everyone to fight in the ranks of the Kuwaiti army against Iran.
The Egyptian citizen said, "I was a soldier in the Egyptian Army and I am under the command of Kuwait and all Egyptians here are ready to defend it."
He indicated that he is available at Kuwait’s command at any moment, and at the critical moment, he will send his children and his wife to Egypt and will fight alongside Kuwait with all Egyptians present on its territory.
The Egyptian citizen faced a significant backlash from Egyptians on social media; some called for him to return to his country or stay forever in Kuwait and not return again with his wife and children.
The video circulating on "El Masry El Youm" website garnered 2.3 million views due to the large interaction with the Egyptian citizen's statement, which mostly received negative comments affirming the rejection of his words and lack of support.
It is worth mentioning that the Egyptian Army played a major role with about 35,000 soldiers in the liberation of Kuwait in 1991 as part of the Arab and international coalition forces. The forces included the Fourth Armored Division and the Third Mechanized Infantry, and they played a decisive role in the ground operations (Desert Storm).
