Khaberni - Jean-Noël Baro, the French Foreign Minister, expressed Paris's support and solidarity with its allies in the region in light of the Iranian attacks they are facing.
During a press conference on Monday, he confirmed his country's readiness to participate in defending the Gulf States and Jordan, emphasizing the importance of de-escalation as soon as possible.
He added, "The entire Middle East region is being dragged again into a dangerous military escalation, and the Iranian regime bears the greatest responsibility for this situation."
He noted that "the Iranian regime has violated international law for decades and must make concessions to resolve the crisis."
In a related context, he reported that the French base in the Emirates was targeted by Iran yesterday, stating that the targeting caused "limited material damage."
On Sunday, the leaders of France, Germany, and the UK expressed their condemnation of the random and disproportionate missile attacks launched by Iran on countries in the region, in response to attacks carried out by the United States and Israel inside the country, in a joint statement in which the leaders expressed their readiness to take defensive steps to protect their interests and allies.
Emmanuel Macron, Friedrich Merz, and Keir Starmer added in their statement that "the reckless attacks carried out by Iran targeted our close allies and threaten our military personnel and civilians across the region."
They called on Iran to "immediately end these reckless attacks," and said they are prepared to undertake "necessary and proportionate defensive actions to destroy Iran's capability to launch rockets and drones from their source," adding, "We agreed to work together with the United States and regional allies on this issue."
