Aoun warns against using Lebanon as a platform for proxy wars

Khaberni - Lebanese President Joseph Aoun warned of the repercussions of launching rockets from Lebanese territory early Monday, considering this step undermines the efforts made by the state to keep Lebanon away from dangerous military confrontations in the region. He called for dealing with developments with national responsibility, placing the supreme interest of the country above any other consideration.

Aoun added, "While we condemn the Israeli aggression on Lebanese territory, we alert that the perseverance of using Lebanon again as a platform for proxy wars, which we have no relation to, will expose our nation once again to risks, the responsibility of which falls on the entities that ignored repeated calls to preserve security and stability in the country. This is a situation that the state will not allow to be repeated and will not be accepted by the Lebanese who are still working to heal the wounds caused by previous confrontations."

Justice Minister Adel Nassar coordinated with the Attorney General and the Government Commissioner at the Military Court, who tasked the security forces with immediately arresting the rocket launchers and their instigators, and bringing them to the military public prosecution.

In the same context, the Prime Minister Nawaf Salam called for an emergency session at the Presidential Palace at eight o'clock in the morning, Monday, local time, to discuss the new developments since midnight and their repercussions, and to take the necessary measures. Lebanese government sources told "Al-Arabi Al-Jadid" that "the Lebanese army will be asked to intensify its deployment to prevent the use of Lebanese territory as a platform for launching rockets," pointing out the necessity to arrest the rocket launchers, as these are measures that will be taken, as there is a firm decision by the government to prevent dragging Lebanon into war, and the government will review all measures to prevent a recurrence of what happened, in addition to measures related to the refugee and economic files."

According to information from "Al-Arabi Al-Jadid," intensive security meetings are currently being held to follow up on the developments and take the necessary measures to prevent the situation from getting out of control. "Al-Arabi Al-Jadid" has learned that heavy pressures are being exercised by ministers opposing Hezbollah in the government to take strict and stringent measures against the party, and they will have an escalatory stance within the session, refusing to proceed with gray or traditional measures.
