Khaberni - The National Electricity Company announced on Sunday the activation of the previously approved emergency plan, in light of the current regional escalation and the resulting decline in natural gas supplies. The company confirmed that the kingdom's stock of fuel for generating electricity is sufficient for at least 30 days, even if the supply stoppage from the "Leviathan" field continues.
The statement clarified that the emergency plan included a temporary suspension of gas supplies to factories connected to the main network, as a precautionary measure consistent with the gas distribution priorities identified within the plan, noting that the decision is temporary and will be reassessed with the improvement of regional situations and the stabilization of gas flows.
The company's general manager, Sufian Al-Batayneh, affirmed the company's readiness to face any new developments or emergency circumstances in the short and long term, pointing out the activation of sustainable alternatives since the temporary cessation of gas supplies.
He added that the electric system in the kingdom is functioning normally, and that all the technical and operational measures taken aim to ensure the continuity of providing the kingdom with electricity without interruption and maintaining the stability of the electrical system under various conditions.
