Crises Rocket Barrages in Current Escalation More Severe Than 12Day War

Khaberni - Ahmed Al-Naimat, Director of Media Response at the National Center for Security and Crisis Management, stated on Sunday that since the beginning of the escalation in the region, the center has activated the standard awareness procedures related to the launching of alarm sirens, which are launched in coordination between the armed forces and public security, according to the protocol related to scenarios that help citizens act during the launching of alarm sirens.

Al-Naimat referred to the "Al-Mamlaka" channel stating that a significant improvement has been observed in citizens' response to dealing with these warnings and taking them seriously, especially given the nature of the rocket barrages and drones compared to what he described as "more violent" than what happened in the 12-day war last June, in addition to the pictures that reached the citizens about targeting several Arab capitals and the resulting material losses and injuries.

He confirmed that the center sends these messages and reinforces them in the media environment in coordination with all relevant entities, noting that the Minister of Government Communication, the spokesperson for the government, had announced the existence of a media cell providing information to the citizen promptly.

Al-Naimat explained the meanings of the alarm sirens, where the three intermittent sirens, each lasting 30 seconds, signify the start of an emergency situation, i.e., the detection of an imminent danger nearby or a threat in Jordan's airspace, and they are launched to alert the citizens to take precautionary measures, such as moving away from windows and entering into homes, emphasizing that these measures aim to reduce potential damage and suffice to prevent losses.

He indicated that during the latest military escalation, a protocol for dealing with schools when alarm sirens are launched was added, given that the military escalation last summer occurred during the school holidays.

Regarding school schedules, Al-Naimat said that the center receives feedback, noting that this file is left to the Ministry of Education as the authority in this regard.

He also confirmed that these standard measures are simple and aim to protect the citizens, their properties, and their lives.
