Reports of the Killing of Former Iranian President Ahmadinejad

Khaberni  - Iranian official media reported the killing of the former Iranian president and a member of the Expediency Discernment Council, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, following a missile attack targeting the capital Tehran yesterday.

A statement released by Iranian media briefly mentioned that Ahmadinejad was killed along with a number of his companions during the strike, with no detailed official statement issued yet.

Media close to the Iranian Revolutionary Guards reported on Saturday the killing of 3 of Najad's guards during the attack carried out by the United States and Israel on Iran.

The security news agency "Mashreq News" reported that the deceased are: Mehdi Mokhtari, Mustafa Azizi, and Hassan Masjedi, who were killed in an attack targeting the office of the former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in East Tehran.

Earlier reports spoke of a rocket falling in the Narmak area of East Tehran, near the residence of Ahmadinejad, with video clips circulating showing damage at the site.

Najad enjoys wide popularity among Iranians as he witnessed the country during his presidency for eight years from 2005 to 2013, a period of economic improvement despite sanctions, although he distanced himself from the late leader Ali Khamenei in the years after his second presidential term.
