Postponement of Round of 16 Matches in West Asia by Decision of the Asian Federation

Khaberni - The Asian Football Confederation announced the postponement of the Round of 16 first-leg matches for its continental competitions in West Asia, due to recent security developments, alongside rescheduling the matches and ensuring the safety of players and fans.

The Asian Football Confederation announced on Sunday the postponement of the first-leg matches of the Round of 16 for its continental competitions, which were scheduled this week in the Middle East, following strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran.

The decision includes postponing a number of matches across three continental competitions, including the Asian Champions League for elites, according to the Asian Football Confederation.

The Asian Football Confederation said in a statement issued from its headquarters in Kuala Lumpur: "In light of current developments in the Middle East... the matches in the western region, scheduled for March 2-3, 2026, will be rescheduled."

It added: "The Asian Football Confederation will continue to closely monitor this evolving situation, and is committed to ensuring the safety and security of all players, teams, officials, and fans."

Several matches of the Round of 16 were scheduled to take place, including the match between Al-Ahli Saudi and Al-Duhail Qatar, on Monday in Doha, according to the schedule of the Asian Football Confederation.

Other matches were also postponed, including the match between Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai and Tractor from Iran, and Al-Wahda UAE with Al-Ittihad Saudi.

On the other hand, no changes will occur to the matches in the eastern region, according to the statement from the continental federation.
