Khaberni - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh stated that the events occurring in the region have led to a disruption in the supply of natural gas from the Mediterranean fields used for electricity production.
Al-Kharabsheh indicated in a press statement that an approved emergency plan has been implemented, which involved switching to alternative energy sources such as natural gas via a floating vessel or using diesel or heavy fuel.
The minister clarified that switching to diesel instead of natural gas costs the National Electricity Company about 1.8 million Jordanian Dinars. Despite this, Al-Kharabsheh reassured that Jordan has a sufficient strategic reserve and there are no technical issues with the supply process.
