Khaberni - The Kuwait Ports Authority announced the suspension of operations at Shuaiba Port as a precautionary measure following the fall of debris in areas near the port, confirming that operations will resume immediately after the situation has been assessed.
Shuaiba Port is one of the pivotal seaports for cargo movement in Kuwait, and thus, any interruption, even temporary, quickly affects the schedules of ship berthing and supply chains, particularly for goods relying on precise unloading dates. According to a statement by the Kuwait Ports Authority, “the assessment includes practically verifying the safety of the surroundings of docks and operational pathways and the readiness of security and safety teams to continue handling without additional risks.”
In parallel, the Public Authority for Industry announced the activation of the emergency plan in the Shuaiba industrial area and raised the level of readiness across all its sectors, explaining that these measures come under the current regional circumstances and in coordination with relevant local authorities and specialized security forces. The authority added that it continuously monitors the security situation and takes necessary precautionary measures in anticipation of any developments.
The authority confirmed in its statement that the situation is currently stable, and that the industrial facilities’ production operations are proceeding normally, in an attempt to reassure the workers and the supply chains associated with the industrial area, while maintaining high readiness and rapid response plans should new developments arise.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy in Kuwait announced the activation of the ministry’s comprehensive emergency plan in response to regional developments. The ministry's spokesperson, engineer Fatima Hayat, stated in a press release that “the ministry immediately started implementing the emergency plan procedures and instructed all teams to deploy and be present at their designated locations within the plan to ensure rapid intervention and immediate handling of any emergency.”
