Khaberni - US President Donald Trump, on Sunday, threatened Iran with an "unprecedented" military force if it responded with a counterattack following the US-Israeli strikes, which resulted in the deaths of the Iranian leader Ali Khamenei and a number of top Iranian leaders.
The US president wrote on his platform "Truth Social": "Iran has just announced that it will launch a very strong attack today, stronger than any previous strike. It is better not to do that, because if it does, we will hit with a force we have never seen before! Thank you for paying attention to this matter,"
and mourning was declared in Iran for 40 days, following the official announcement of Khamenei's death. Iranian media had earlier reported the death of members of Khamenei's family as well.
Prior to this, the US president said on his social network "Truth Social": "Khamenei, one of the most evil people in history, was killed."
He added that the Iranian people have the "greatest" opportunity to regain control of their country.
Trump wrote on his social network "Truth Social": "The country was greatly destroyed, even erased, in just one day. Yet, the intensive and precise bombardment will continue uninterrupted throughout the week or as long as necessary to achieve our goal."
Israel announced on Saturday morning the commencement of the attack on Iran named "Lion's Roar". Then, Washington announced that it was a large-scale operation conducted jointly with Israel named "Furious Rage", stating that its aim was to overthrow the Iranian regime. Iran responded by launching volleys of missiles towards Israel and several Gulf countries where there are multiple American bases, as well as Iraq and Jordan.
The US president declared that the aim of the attack was to destroy Iran's military capabilities and overthrow its regime and its "imminent threats" to the United States and its allies.
This operation is the first of its kind in the Middle East since the invasion of Iraq in 2003, and Washington prepared for it by amassing a huge naval and air force in the region.
Iran retaliated by launching missiles towards Israel and Arab countries hosting American bases, which it considered "legitimate targets".
