You Wouldnt Expect Them 6 Surprising Foods That Protect Your Teeth

Khaberni - Some foods have always been associated with dental damage, whether they are acidic, sweet, or crunchy. But Dr. Mark Boreen, a dentist from San Francisco, breaks this rule, revealing six foods that are secretly good for oral health despite their bad reputation.

Dark Chocolate
It sounds strange, but high-quality dark chocolate contains theobromine, a compound that strengthens tooth enamel, in addition to being a rich source of magnesium necessary for tooth remineralization.

Boreen tells "Health Shots": "Chocolate is not just a candy, but a medicinal remedy for the teeth if the cocoa content is more than 70%".

Sourdough Bread
Unlike white bread, which increases the risk of cavities, sourdough bread has a less detrimental impact on teeth due to its natural fermentation which reduces sugar levels and enhances mineral absorption, as well as supporting oral microbiome health.

Raw Cheese
Raw cheese not only reduces acidity but also helps repair tooth enamel. Boreen explains: "Casien in raw cheese creates a difficult environment for decay-causing bacteria and overall enhances oral health".

Citrus Fruits
Despite their acidity, citrus fruits are essential for gum health thanks to their vitamin C content. Boreen advises not to brush teeth immediately after consuming them to protect the enamel.

Pickles
While some may fear the acidity, traditional fermented pickles support the beneficial bacteria in the mouth, protecting against decay and gum diseases.

Boreen says: "Feed your mouth healthy bacteria, as they are the first line of defense against dental problems".

Nuts
Avoid the fear of breaking teeth; chewing stimulates jaw bone density. Nuts are rich in magnesium and phosphorus, essential for tooth enamel and jaw bones.
