Khaberni - The Egyptian Ministry of Interior revealed new details about the incident involving the owner of the car with the Israeli flag and the video that was circulated on social media, which included the car's driver colliding with several citizens and vehicles in Giza, and his family reported that he "suffers psychologically" in an incident that occupied the Egyptians.
The ministry stated, in an official statement, that upon inspection, a report was received at Kerdasa Police Station in Giza on Friday, about a collision and injuries within the station's district, adding that while the car's driver was present, a verbal altercation occurred between him and the owner of a commercial shop due to the latter objecting to him parking in front of his shop.
The statement also mentioned that when bystanders witnessed the fight and the flag fixed on the car, they assaulted him by beating, and while trying to escape, he collided with several citizens and vehicles coincidentally passing by the area, adding that the incident resulted in 6 people suffering from fractures and various bruises, and they were transferred to a number of hospitals to receive necessary treatment.
Mentally ill
The ministry mentioned that it was possible to seize the car and its driver, while the young man's family reported that he has suffered from a mental illness for several years, and has been treated by a number of psychiatrists, and they provided the medical papers and certificates proving this.
Meanwhile, investigations revealed that the young man, owner of the car, had visited one of the car accessory shops in the same area and asked the shop owner's daughter to print a flag he had with him; the daughter printed two copies of it and handed them to him, fearing him, as he was known in his residential area to be mentally unstable.
Legal measures were taken, and the Public Prosecutor's Office took over the investigation.
It is noted that the video of the car spread widely in the past few hours on social media among Egyptians. The video showed a speeding car that was displaying the Israeli flag, before colliding with a number of people in front of a Vodafone branch in Kerdasa, resulting in injuries.
