Khaberni - The Saudi Food and Drug Authority issued a warning today, Friday, about several infant milk products from the company "Nutricia Danone" for the brands "Bebelac" and "Aptamil".
The authority explained that this warning followed a voluntary notification from the company and a precautionary withdrawal of the products from certain batches due to the potential contamination with the substance "Cereulide" excreted by "Bacillus cereus" bacteria, which may pose a risk to the health of infants.
The "Food and Drug" pointed out that this measure is part of the voluntary precautionary recall, and after evaluating the potential risks, it noted that exposure to this substance can lead to symptoms appearing within a timeframe ranging from half an hour to six hours after consuming the product, and include nausea, repeated vomiting, and abdominal pain, usually short-term lasting up to 24 hours. The authority also clarified that no cases related to these products have been recorded in the kingdom to date.
The authority advised consumers not to consume the recalled products and to dispose of them immediately, noting that it has taken the necessary actions in coordination with the company to withdraw the products from the markets and to monitor the implementation directly. It also published a table showing the details of the products and batch numbers included in the recall.
The authority reaffirmed its commitment to monitoring the safety of food products and enhancing compliance with approved regulations, urging everyone to report any violations related to food products via the unified contact center (19999).
