Khaberni- The General Commissioner of the National Human Rights Center, Jamal Al-Shamayleh, said on Friday that there are about 75,000 children documented as working illegally or formally.
Al-Shamayleh added to "Al-Mamlaka," that there are 45,000 children working in hazardous occupations, stressing that appropriate measures must be taken in this regard.
He stated that the statistics and data are collected by committees from the Ministry of Labor, the Ministry of Social Development, and the Ministry of Education, and are quite accurate to a large extent, but he added that they will not be 100% accurate due to the difficulty of encompassing all children who work, especially in hazardous jobs.
He emphasized that the issue of children working in hazardous occupations must be considered with "greater seriousness," even if the percentage of children working in them is not large, confirming that the law must be applied concerning employers of children and that violations of the law in this matter should not be allowed.
He called for reporting when detecting children working through the Ministry of Labor and the Ministry of Social Development, or through the nearest security center, and reporting on the observation of child labor.
