572 Satellite Internet Subscribers in Jordan

Khaberni - The number of subscribers to satellite internet services via satellites in Jordan reached 572 subscribers by the end of January 2026, according to the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority.

The Authority stated that, as of today, there are four companies that have obtained public telecommunications licenses to provide satellite internet services in the Kingdom, according to the Kingdom.

Regarding the existence of new licensing applications to provide satellite internet service in Jordan, the Authority confirmed that there are currently no licensing applications under consideration.

Subscribers to this service can access the internet through a dedicated and fixed communications system provided by the company, mainly consisting of an external receiving antenna and another internal one.

Satellite Internet provides wireless internet broadcasted from satellites orbiting Earth, offering global coverage. It allows internet connectivity in remote locations where terrestrial internet access is unavailable, in locations where access quality is unreliable or poor, without the need for complex terrestrial equipment.

Satellite internet is an essential complement to existing mobile networks and fixed lines, according to a previous statement by Jawad Abbassi, Head of the Middle East and North Africa region at the GSMA.

It should be noted that VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) stations are small devices and stations used to provide internet service through direct connection with satellites, without the need for terrestrial networks such as fiber optics or telephone lines.
