Khaberni - The Egyptian actress Elham Shaheen broke her silence to respond strongly to the wave of criticisms that targeted her nephew's wedding, and what was raised about the presence of alcoholic drinks at the event.
In statements characterized by her usual frankness, Shaheen clarified during her appearance on the program "Between the Lines" that the event was not an "Islamic wedding," but a celebration for a generation of youth who want to enjoy their time and exercise their personal freedom, affirming that society is not in a position to religiously judge individuals as long as personal behavior does not cause harm to others.
She added that the basic standard should be based on proper human behavior, away from meddling in people's private choices that fall under the category of freedoms.
In related context, the Egyptian actress launched a scathing attack on the phenomenon of "social media," considering it has turned into an arena for invading individuals' privacy in a "terrifying" manner.
She expressed her extreme displeasure at the absence of mutual respect, as social media platforms transformed from means of positive connection to tools for violating sanctities and tracking others' mistakes.
Shaheen concluded her talk by expressing her shock at the state some have reached in monitoring spontaneous moments and capturing them for the purpose of defamation and mockery, considering this approach represents a moral deterioration that threatens the social fabric and the privacy guaranteed by all traditions.
