Orders food and taxis Google develops Gemini to perform human tasks

Khaberni - Google has launched a new update for its smart assistant "Gemini", enabling users to automate multi-step tasks on Android smartphones, in a step that further transforms artificial intelligence from merely a conversational tool to a digital assistant capable of actually executing tasks within apps.

With the new update, users can perform complex actions such as ordering a taxi, ordering food and groceries, or making purchases, through just one command, where "Gemini" automatically carries out the steps within the supported apps, eliminating the need for manual screen navigation.

Completing daily tasks
This feature will initially be available on "Pixel 10", "Pixel 10 Pro", and "Pixel 10 Pro X" from Google, as well as the new "Galaxy S26" series from Samsung, and can be activated by pressing and holding the power button to request smart assistant's help in completing daily tasks.

Google confirmed that these operations are performed within a secure virtual window on the device, with continuous notifications sent to the user about the progress of the task, and the possibility to stop it at any time, enhancing the level of control and maintaining privacy. The company indicated that the feature will currently support a limited number of apps, such as food delivery applications, with plans to gradually expand its scope.

In related news, Google also announced the expansion of its smart fraud protection features, where "Gemini" is now capable of analyzing incoming calls from unknown numbers and warning the user if voice patterns associated with fraud attempts are detected, through an alert displayed on the screen and a voice notification. The company clarified that this feature operates directly on the device without sending data to the servers.

Google has also expanded its scam message detection coverage to include more than 20 countries and multiple languages, including Arabic, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish, in a move aimed at enhancing digital security for users.

The update also improved the smart search tool via the camera, which is now capable of recognizing multiple elements within a photo or video simultaneously, including clothing or products, with the possibility of virtually trying some items.

This step comes as part of the increasingly competitive environment among technology companies to develop more advanced digital assistants, capable not only of providing information but also of performing daily tasks, thereby enhancing the role of artificial intelligence as a fundamental component in the smartphone user experience.
