Khaberni - The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, confirmed that Israeli actions in the occupied West Bank and in the Gaza Strip, including military operations that lead to displacement, aim to bring about a “permanent demographic change”.
Volker Turk stated in a speech before the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva today: “It appears that the collective Israeli actions are aimed at creating a permanent demographic change in Gaza and the West Bank, raising concerns of ethnic cleansing”, as reported by France 24 channel.
The UN official specifically mentioned the ongoing Israeli military operation since last year in the north of the West Bank, which has resulted in the displacement of 32,000 Palestinians.
