Khaberni - The Minister of Transport, Dr. Nidal Al-Qatamin, held a meeting with the General Director of the Land Transport Regulatory Commission Riyad Al-Kharabsheh, the General Director of Oman Vision Transportation Company Mohammad Al-Laymoon, and the General Director of Munich for Cards and Payment Hani Saad, to enhance the transport services for buses to ensure an effective response to the growing demand for public transport.
Al-Qatamin emphasized that developing the public transport system is a strategic necessity imposed by population growth and increasing transportation needs, stressing the importance of regular service, enhancing its reliability, and improving its operational efficiency, aiming to establish public transport as a primary and sustainable option for the citizens in the capital and provinces.
The minister also discussed the enhancement of the operational efficiency of rapid frequency buses during peak periods, through the redistribution of the fleet and increasing the number of buses to meet high-density hours, contributing to greater traffic fluidity, improving user experience, and enhancing the utilization of available resources.
In the same context, the importance of developing the digital infrastructure of the transport system was affirmed, by providing comprehensive and real-time data and information about the movement of buses and passengers, and the gradual expansion in implementing smart transport systems to include all buses in Oman of the kingdom, including real-time tracking systems, instant monitoring, electronic payment, and informational services within buses, which enhances the level of transparency and operational discipline, and supports the capability to detect violations and address them immediately.
This meeting comes within the framework of the efforts of the Ministry of Transport to modernize the public transport sector, and to transform it into an integrated system based on data and modern technologies, which enhances its operational efficiency and financial sustainability, and consolidates its role as a primary transport option serving the citizens in the capital and the provinces alike.
