Khaberni - Russia delivered the remains of a thousand Ukrainian soldiers to Kyiv, according to a Russian official on Thursday, while Ukraine returned the bodies of 35 Russians.
Exchanges of the remains of soldiers who died in the war regularly occur between the two countries, in a matter which is among the limited areas of cooperation between the sides.
The chief negotiator for Moscow, Vladimir Medinsky, stated on social networks that "the bodies of a thousand Ukrainian soldiers were handed over to Ukraine. Russia received the bodies of 35 Russian fighters."
He posted a picture showing individuals wearing white suits and blue gloves lifting a white body bag from the back of a refrigerated truck.
Hundreds of thousands of soldiers have been killed in the war, which entered its fifth year and began with the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
Negotiators from both countries attended in Geneva on Thursday for separate talks with American officials, which are part of a difficult negotiation process that U.S. President Donald Trump is pushing forward to end the fighting.
