Khaberni - Bloomberg reported from a Pentagon document presented to Congress that the U.S. Department of Defense plans to spend an additional 12.6 billion dollars to enhance the monitoring of Chinese military exercises, submarines, and satellites.
According to the agency, these funds will be spent to improve "the readiness of the U.S. military, enhance offensive cyber capabilities", and contribute to "surveillance and reconnaissance efforts in the Indo-Pacific region".
Among other things, it is expected that one billion dollars of the above-mentioned allocations will be spent on expenses related to the operation of the unmanned spacecraft X-37B by the U.S. Space Force.
The Pentagon also intends to allocate an additional 528 million dollars to expand the early warning and reconnaissance satellite system.
The department also plans to allocate another 143 million dollars to improve anti-submarine sonar systems.
