Egypts Mufti Resolves the Debate What is the Ruling on Making a Movie for the Deceased Using AI Technologies

Khaberni - Dr. Nazeer Ayad, the Mufti of the Egyptian Diyanet, confirmed that loud recitations are in the Fajr, Maghrib, and Isha prayers, as well as in the Eid prayers, whereas an individual praying alone may choose to recite loudly or softly in the audible prayers, and it is recommended for him to recite aloud unless it causes disturbance.

Nazeer Ayad, during an interview for the program "Ask the Mufti" on Sada Al-Balad channel, hosted by the media personality Hamdi Rizk, stated that the use of artificial intelligence technologies to produce films or materials that mimic deceased individuals is subject to clear religious guidelines, related to the purposes of use and its effects.

The Mufti of the Egyptian Diyanet continued, stating that if artificial intelligence technologies are used to invoke scenes that renew grief in a harmful way, or violate the sanctity of the deceased, or include assaults on religious constants through simulation or uncontrolled acting, such actions are religiously forbidden, due to the indignity it imposes on human dignity and the provocation of strife or negative emotions.

Nazeer Ayad pointed out that the use of these technologies within a controlled and ethical framework, such as to remind of the deceased's good biography, document their accomplishments, pray for them, and offer condolences, without disrespect, distortion, or affecting the sacred, enters the realm of permissible, provided there is adherence to the religious and ethical guidelines.
