Khaberni - Germany has called on its citizens in Israel and Lebanon to take preemptive security measures amid the possibility of a U.S. attack on Iran.
The German Embassy in Tel Aviv has urged Germans in Israel to prepare for the possibility of having to stay in place, in case the airspace is closed due to Iranian attacks, and has advised them to stock up on supplies and familiarize themselves with the locations of protection and shelters wherever they are.
The embassy - in a statement - suggested to its citizens in Israel to install an app on their mobile phones that warns of imminent rocket attacks.
Meanwhile, the German Foreign Ministry has warned of the deteriorating security situation in Lebanon, while the German Embassy in Beirut confirmed that air travel restrictions could be imposed at any time, and advised German nationals to closely follow travel and security guidelines, and to stock up on food, drink, and fuel.
Last Saturday, the German Embassy in Tehran called on all its citizens to leave Iran "immediately," and warned in an official statement of the possibility of a deterioration in conditions and the outbreak of "armed conflict," confirming that the German Foreign Ministry would not be able to provide support or carry out evacuations if the situation exploded militarily, while Sweden, Serbia, and Poland issued similar calls.
Countdown
As the countdown begins for a third round of talks between the United States and Iran in Geneva tomorrow, Thursday, officials from both countries emphasize the importance of the diplomatic option, while working to raise the level of alertness.
Last Thursday, U.S. President Donald Trump gave Tehran a deadline of 10 to 15 days to reach an agreement or face "very bad things," according to him, while Iran has repeatedly threatened a firm response to any attack, regardless of its size.
Earlier, Israeli media reported that Tel Aviv has raised its military alert level and held intensive security meetings in anticipation of a possible joint strike with the United States.
Yedioth Ahronoth went on to say that "zero hour is approaching," indicating that the chances of confrontation may shrink from weeks to "a few days."
Concern has also spread to Lebanon where, yesterday, the Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Ragheb warned that Israel may target Lebanese infrastructure in the event of military confrontation between Iran and Washington.
