Khaberni - An F-16 fighter jet belonging to the Turkish Air Forces crashed on Wednesday morning in western Turkey, resulting in the death of its pilot, according to media reports quoting the Ministry of Defense.
The plane had taken off from a base in Balıkesir province and later lost contact, according to the same source.
The wreckage of the plane was later found in the same province, and media reported the death of the pilot, noting that the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
The Turkish military had suffered a similar loss last November when a C-130 military transport aircraft crashed in Georgia on its return from Azerbaijan, resulting in the deaths of all twenty crew members.
In recent months, other F-16 aircraft manufactured by Lockheed Martin in the USA have also crashed.
In January, Taiwan discovered the black box of one of these fighter jets after it crashed into the sea during a routine mission, and it was reported that its pilot, who had ejected into the sea, was missing.
In Poland, another plane crashed in August during preparations for an air show, resulting in the death of its pilot.
