The House of Representatives continues discussing the insurance contract bill

Khaberni - The House of Representatives continues, on Wednesday, during a legislative session, to discuss the insurance contract bill for the year 2025.

The council approved during a session on Monday, and by a majority of votes, 12 articles from the insurance contract bill for the year 2025, as submitted by the government, out of a total of 101 articles in the bill.

The project aims to enhance transparency and justice in the relationship between insurance companies and citizens, and ensures the protection of the insured's rights by obligating insurance companies to respond to requests within only 10 days, and prohibiting the imposition of unfair or vague terms.

It also contributes to stimulating investment and supporting the national economy by providing an advanced legislative environment, in addition to addressing negative phenomena such as the purchase of "crutches" legally criminalizing them and imposing clear penalties.

The bill aims to enhance confidence in the insurance sector and achieve the principle of fair compensation that protects the rights of all parties and ensures that the terms of the contracts are clear, simple, and interpreted in favor of the insured in case of any ambiguity.

The bill defines the obligations incumbent on both parties of the insurance contract and clarifies the legal provisions resulting from its termination based on justified reasons before its duration expires and the resulting obligations for the insurer and the insured. It also specifies the limitation period that prevents hearing lawsuits arising from the insurance contract, the circumstances in which this limitation is interrupted, and the date on which the right arises for the insured and others to file lawsuits.
